British boxer Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was caught in a vehicular crash near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.

“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the loss of his two close friends.”
