Fast bowler Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Problems.

'Significant concern' for the touring side after Atkinson leaves the field due to a hamstring issue.

The English seamer further complicated the fitness woes of the England squad upon exiting the field early on day two in the Melbourne Test in the Ashes series.

The right-arm seamer pulled up with his left hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over at the MCG.

The England team indicated the 27-year-old felt some "soreness" and was to take time on the sidelines for further assessment "in the coming hours".

The series decider in this Ashes battle at the SCG starts on Sunday, 4 January.

The visitors have previously lost key quicks Mark Wood to a knee injury and Jofra Archer to a side strain during this series.

A replacement bowler was called up as cover for Wood.

The seamer had a tough time during the first two matches, claiming a mere a handful of scalps.

He was left out from the previous Test, only to be brought back for the Boxing Day match to fill the void.

Atkinson improved at the MCG, taking two wickets with the ball, and scoring 28 runs as a batsman among just a trio of teammates to get into double digits.

After bowling one over in Australia's second innings, he returned on Saturday morning and removed Scott Boland edging to the keeper.

Yet, towards the conclusion of that over, he bowled a change of pace to Travis Head and suddenly grabbed for his hamstring.

The English bowler was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test after being left out of the third.
