Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Widespread Retaliatory Strikes.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the US has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far struck sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported debris fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
