Jurgen Klopp admits rejoining to manage Liverpool is theoretically possible.

The German coach, who left Anfield in 2024, indicated that a future comeback remains an option. The 58-year-old, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure that included Champions League success and the Premier League crown since 1990, has since taken on roles overseeing worldwide football with the Red Bull group and as an advisor with the German Football League.

Fan Sentiment and His Frank Comments

Liverpool won the league title last season, yet numerous supporters who revere Klopp would welcome the idea of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he told his interviewer: “I stated I refuse to lead a different club within the country. Therefore should it be the Reds...yes. In theory, it could happen.”

“At 58 years old, that means the choice could be mine in a few years, I don’t know. Do I have to make the decision today? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, I don’t have to do that. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”

What Would Lure Him Back?

Pressed on which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to the touchline, he confessed he feels no immediate pull to such a return. “I don’t even know exactly, My present work fulfills me,” he commented. “No longing for management; No desire to be during downpours for two-and-a-half or three hours; I'm glad to skip press conferences repeatedly each week or constant media duties weekly.

“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, yet sharing a meal alongside the squad talking freely, that’s nice. With many victories so there was often positive atmosphere at the club. I still have the captain's chuckle ringing in my ears to illustrate.”

Praise for His Successor

He commended of the current boss, crediting him for the tweaks which secured the championship last term. They've been defeated a string of losses in every contest post heavy investment, but he rubbished the idea of it representing a slump.

“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker like Florian Wirtz, doubters will be silenced if you use the wrong words. He’s an incredible talent. [Hugo] Ekitike, superb talent. They have a strong balanced team. You don’t have to worry about Liverpool, they will be fine.”

Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota

He shared movingly about the death of Diogo Jota, a 2020 acquisition during his tenure, and the effect on Liverpool. The forward died tragically in a road accident alongside his brother this past summer.

“Can you substitute a person like him? It’s not about his on-field talent, it's his character. I can’t imagine the squad absent his presence. I still cannot speak properly about it. A devastating blow for the entire squad too. Not a single person will ever use it to justify results but it is the situation. You walk in a dressing room where he was omnipresent. Handling this individually is difficult. Overwhelming.”
