Supporters Demand Custody of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Loyal followers of the pop star are calling for that a person who breached a barrier and grabbed the performer during Thursday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or expelled from Singapore.
A circulating clip shows the individual from Australia shoving aside camera operators and lunging at Grande while the cast made its way down a event pathway flanked by fans.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly pulled the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being escorted out of the event by guards.
Mr Wen shared on Instagram recently that he was "released after being arrested", though official papers showed that he was scheduled to attend court on the next day. It is not clear if he was charged.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram account contains videos of him disturbing other celebrity events, including rushing the platform at the pop singer's Sydney concert in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the area last December.
"Steps should be implemented taken against him as this is evidently a criminal offence," stated an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" one Instagram user remarked.
Fans Voice Worry Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Several followers accused Mr Wen for "causing further distress" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and wounding many.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" commented another message on Instagram.
Several attendees also faulted security officers at the gathering for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals demanded online networks to remove Mr Wen's videos.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage circulating online, Grande looked startled when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed comforting her while Mr Wen was led out by security.
Grande has remained silent on the incident, and the remaining proceedings proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of fans had assembled in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore venue, including a number who had stood in line for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The movie, to be released on 21 November, is the sequel of a two-film version of the well-known Broadway and West End production Wicked, which focuses on the surprising bond between two distinct witches.
The production itself is a adaptation of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a light pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the top-earning film of last year in the UK, and received a dozen Academy Award nods, winning several for excellent wardrobe and production design.
