News has broken that beloved stars Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson are set to appear once again in the newest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Production is currently underway.
A Major Comeback for the Franchise
Lawrence and Hutcherson will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their appearance will likely occur in a future-set scene, given that the main film series concluded with their characters settled into family life.
This signifies the sixth cinematic outing in the global Hunger Games franchise.
Exploring the New Story
Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a recent book by series creator Suzanne Collins. It serves as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed most of the previous films in the series.
The Storyline and Fresh Faces
The film's narrative are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, destined to become Katniss's mentor, is shown as a tribute in the deadly 50th Hunger Games.
