The President Calls Families of Shot Military Members to White House

President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the loved ones of a Guard member fatally shot last week to come to the White House.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Event

US army specialist Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The commander-in-chief said he’s talked about a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both members of the state National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump told reporters. “And similarly with him, recover or not.”

Public Response

Community members came together over the past few days at the high school in West Virginia to honor Sarah.

Both the soldiers had been working with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s government program to aid public safety in Washington DC.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the type of pupil that teachers hoped for. She conducted herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a positive energy that encouraged people around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s previous school, told the Associated Press. “She was caring, considerate and always ready to support those in need.”

Memorial arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Measures and Policy Adjustments

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old suspect with a charge of murder and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the Trump administration to suspend asylum applications and temporarily stop providing visas to holders of passports from Afghanistan.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a resident of the city, enlisted in February 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, according to the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia governor Morrisey stated on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.

Attorney general Bondi stated on the program that she also intended to visit the family.

Memory of the Fallen Soldier

Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, per the military.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor informed the crowd at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has created a legacy that’s going to last forever.”
