The Reform UK leader Accuses Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a Reform UK election victory, accusing them of “harming young minds” by instructing students that black pupils are victims and Caucasian students are perpetrators.

During an event for a private US Christian college, the politician expressed his perspective on British schools, claiming that the “radical left-wing” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after winning the next general election,” he remarked in response to questions.

“They are poisoning our kids. They instruct children to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is an oppressor. They are dividing us, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”

Reacting to Farage’s claims, Daniel Kebede rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “absurd”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.

“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and now, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a conflict,” the union leader said.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for students and learning.”

The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and seems not to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – absolutely herculean. Moreover, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it will take us years, years to turn this around.”

He stated that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to educate individuals that there are two points of view and they should decide for themselves rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. This is a huge undertaking in both Britain and America.”

Reform has previously clashed with a major educators’ organization, after the union leader labeled them “extremist and prejudiced” and described the leader as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “a self-declared Marxist” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned at school, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the others teaching assistants and support staff. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in schools and extensive missed instruction for students.

At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He stated such groups were “part of the fightback”, adding that: “I mean this. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”

The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these excellent programs for no charge to every interested learner.”
